Our Update for December 2011
The PAW Empire Research Trail (PERT) Site
The photos above are "Before" and "After" of the trail on the September 24, 2011 Workday. The footprint of the trail can now be easily seen and walked.
A lot happened in 2011 for the PERT Site. PAW gave our property to Clear Creek County in exchange for the County covering insurance requirements for the construction of the trail and parking lot. An agreement was made between the County and the Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District that when the PERT site is completed by PAW they would receive it as theirs and maintan it. A grant application was submitted to Colorado State Trails for funding for the parking lot and trailhead. An application was submitted to Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) to help build the trail in 2012. The PERT site was accepted as one of their projects for 2012.
The workday/s for the trail are June 2-3, 2012. The Town of Empire is letting VOC use their town park for meals and camping during the weekend.
September 22, 2012 is planned as a fundrasier for the PERT site. There will be a BBQ, Silent Auction, music, tour of the trail, and fun events for kids of all ages.
